Essential Oils and Emotional Healing

I use essential oils as part of your healing plan. I use them for emotional healing and massage when appropriate. I will always let you know what I have used in case you are interested in getting some for yourself.

What’s safe to use and how much? Just a no-nonsense approach to helping you make choices about your own well-being.

When I first started using essential oils several years ago, I learned that the best ones to have in my stash were: lavender, tea tree, peppermint, chamomile, eucalyptus, geranium, rosemary, and lemon. I just nodded my head at the aromatherapist in the local aromatherapy store where I eventually took classes to further my education about why I was using them in the first place. So let’s talk about why these particular oils are great to start out.

Lavender - Lavender is a natural antibiotic, antiseptic, antidepressant and sedative which promotes healing and also stimulates the immune system. Can produce calming and relaxing benefits and is soothing for the skin. It is one of the safest and most widely-used oils and is most effective at relaxing brain waves and reducing stress.

Tea Tree - Tea Tree is antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal. Can be used topically or aromatically and has a fresh, green, uplifting aroma. Soothes skin irritations. It is great on mold.

Add a teaspoon of tea tree oil, 10 drops of clove oil and a cup of water into a spray bottle and shake thoroughly. Spray on moldy areas in the bathroom and kitchen. Leave on for 10 minutes and wipe away. Can also be used on the shower curtain and toilets.

Peppermint - Peppermint promotes good digestion by relaxing the digestive muscles so they operate more efficiently. It supports the respiratory and circulation systems, and is an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. It relaxes the nerves. Peppermint is in most liniments where it warms by increasing blood flow.

I use it on cotton balls to keep rodents out of our barn - they seem to hate the smell!

Chamomile - Chamomile is antibacterial, antiseptic and disinfectant but is most often used as an anti-inflammatory. It promotes digestion, soothes nervous tension and promotes sleep. It’s also analgesic, diuretic and sedative so it may have a calming effect on the skin, mind, and body. Why do you think we drink chamomile tea when we want to relax?

Eucalyptus - Eucalyptus is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, antiseptic, antibiotic, diuretic, analgesic and deodorizing. It’s aroma may remind you of the stuff your mom used to rub on your chest when you were a kid. I like to put this in a pot of hot water and let the steam help clear my respiratory system.

Geranium - Antidepressant, antiseptic, astringent, anti-inflammatory, antifungal. Use it in salves, creames, lotion or massage oils to balance all complexion types. I like to think of this as one of the “ladies” oils as it can help with monthly symptoms.

to be continued…

One of the biggest parts of my practice is helping you through emotional healing. It can change from day-to-day so I have invested in an Emotional Aromatherapy essential oil set from doTERRA that can help soothe, calm, and uplift the emotions in a natural way. High quality essential oils are pure and potent, so only a little oil will be needed to help the user achieve the desired effect. Although essential oils are extremely powerful, they come from natural sources, so they are still safe to use.

The oils are:

Motivate® Encouraging Blend - Helps promote feelings of confidence, courage, and belief. When trying to foster creativity, counteract emotions of doubt, or regain confidence. Includes peppermint, clementine, coriander, basis, yuzu, melissa, rosemary leaf and vanilla bean.

Cheer® Uplifting Blend - Avoiding discouragement and negative emotions can often feel impossible—even with a can-do attitude or optimistic outlook. Like a ray of sunshine, doTERRA Cheer Uplifting Blend can help dispel heavy emotions by providing a positivity boost using a fresh, bright aroma that promotes feelings of optimism and cheerfulness. Includes wild orange, clove, star anise, lemon myrtle, nutmeg, vanilla, ginger, cinnamon and zdravetz.

Passion® Inspiring Blend  - When life starts to feel stale and predictable, we often lose our vigor, purpose, and passion for living. Whether you are looking to revive enthusiasm for your current circumstances, or reach beyond your comfort zone, Passion Inspiring Blend can help give you the extra spark necessary to rekindle the flame of excitement in your life. Includes fractionated coconut oil, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, clove, sandalwood, jasmine, vanilla and damiana.

Forgive® Renewing Blend - It can be difficult to live a life of contentment when feelings of anger, betrayal, guilt, and negativity hang like a dark cloud over your head. These emotions often lead to excess stress and can dampen any effort to achieve feelings of peace or forgiveness. When embarking on the path to forgiveness, doTERRA Forgive Renewing Blend is an encouraging companion that will help you remember to let go and keep moving forward. Includes spruce, bergamot, juniper berry, myrrh, arborvitae, nootka tree, thyme and citronella.

Console® Comforting Blend - Hidden sorrows and overwhelming grief can wear on the soul, often leaving us feeling hopeless and melancholy. Sadness can become all-consuming and will affect well-being if we let it. doTERRA Console Comforting Blend works to engender feelings of comfort by wrapping the user in an essential oil “hug” of floral and tree scents. Includes frankincense, patchouli, ylang ylang, labdanum, amyris, sandalwood, rose and osmanthus.

Peace® Reassuring Blend - When feelings of fear and anxiousness creep into our minds, we seek for peace and reassurance from many sources. Though it can be difficult to remain calm and composed in our hectic, unpredictable world, doTERRA Peace Reassuring Blend provides an escape from discontent and worry. Includes: vetiver, lavender, ylang ylang, frankincense, clary sage, marjoram, labdanum and spearmint.

How to Receive Emotional Aromatherapy:

After our short intake chat prior to your session, you can choose whether or not you would like me to use aromatherapy. I will have you put a drop into your hands and inhale the scent. Simple as that, and there is no charge.

You may choose the Emotional Aromatherapy Session which means if you are receiving a massage, I will use it in your massage lotion or cream and you will smell it throughout the day If you are receiving energy healing, I will have you inhale the aroma as I work around your head, I will apply a couple of drops to each foot, then you will take a small sample bottle of the oil home with you.
