Spiritual healing is less about temporarily feeling good and more about revealing and releasing the cause of the discomfort, opening the door to true healing.
What are some of the symptoms of living with stress?
Difficulty sleeping. Without a good night’s sleep, your body experiences fatigue, cloudy-thinking, achy muscles and possibly overeating or relying on coffee or other stimulants to keep you going. If you take sleep medications, you may feel worse the next day.
People who receive Reiki relax into a calming, meditative state, much like the sleep you would expect when you go to bed at night. Many people find that after a Reiki or massage session that they sleep more soundly than they have for a long time. Clients fall asleep on my table frequently.
Poor Digestion. Digestive problems manifest as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), diarrhea, constipation, abdominal cramping and nausea. When you don’t eat fresh food or take the time to enjoy your meal without distractions (reading, TV, scrolling whatever), or you scarf your lunch at your desk at work, you may not be allowing your body to relax enough to digest properly. Added stress from work and family responsibilities tighten up all the digestive muscles.
During a session, abdominal gurgling is normal and a good sign that your digestive system is balancing itself. After awhile, you may notice that you are more interested in eating better or more mindfully or wanting to take a walk after meals to help with the digestive process. Making sure you are caring for yourself by eliminating stress is a good start.
Weight Gain. Weight gain is not the problem, it is a symptom of a much deeper dysfunction which could be deeply rooted. Part of this is numbing your feelings with food, creating temporary happiness or not caring enough about yourself to eat in a healthful way.
By getting regular Reiki or massage treatments, you reduce your stress hormones that keep the weight on. By improving your digestion, getting better sleep, being more in tune with your body and bringing your body back in balance, you may start to feel better about yourself and want to make the changes needed to let the weight go. It’s about changing your mindset.
